What is Reiki?
‘Reiki’ is a Japanese term to describe the Universal life-force energy that sustains all living things. Reiki is used as a relaxing, non-invasive complementary therapy, which aims to balance all aspects of our being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Reiki as a healing method originates from Japan and is often referred to as ‘Usui Reiki Ryoho’, after its founder, Mikao Usui (1865-1926). He was a Jōdo-shū Buddhist monk and incorporated much of his spiritual wisdom into his Reiki teachings.
For the student, Reiki Ryoho is a spiritual pathway towards personal enrichment and enlightenment: involving the daily practice of mindfulness, meditation and self-healing. Reiki Ryoho is non-sectarian in nature and transcends all faiths and backgrounds.
Since his early years, Adrian has been interested in natural health therapies and healthy living. He soon realised his vocation in life is to help others, through healing. Firstly, he trained as a spiritual healer, before gaining qualifications in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and then as a Reiki practitioner.
In 2010, Adrian established ReikiWorld Academy in order to teach Japanese Reiki.
Adrian teaches Komyo ReikiDo, a traditional style of Reiki Ryoho, founded by internationally renowned teacher Hyakuten Inamoto. he is a Jōdo-shū (Pure Land) Buddhist monk from Kyoto. Adrian received his initial Komyo ReikiDo training from his teacher and mentor, Varvara Hajisava, with subsequent refresher training from Hyakuten Inamoto himself.

Komyo ReikiDo is best translated as: ‘The pathway to enlightenment through Reiki’ and places great emphasis on the spiritual growth & self-discovery of the student, as well as being an effective complementary therapy.

- Reiki can help you attain enlightenment – absolute inner peace.
Here is Adrian’s short lineage to the founder of Usui Reiki Ryoho, Mikao Usui:
Adrian describes below, how Reiki has transformed his life and the life of others:
“To me, discovering Reiki was a personal realisation, a mindset, an attitude; an understanding that I am part of something far greater than myself. By creating the right environment you too can help others realise the same.
With this realisation comes peace and tranquility. One can find peace in any moment in time by simply letting go of ego and by focusing and intending on being at one with the Universe.
This peace is the gift. I share this gift with you. Humility is the by-product of such an honour”.
Nowhere is this honour more evident than at Macmillan Cancer Support where Adrian is a volunteer therapist. He has witnessed how effective Reiki can be for pain relief and how it can transform the mindset of even the most chronically ill patients.
