Reiki can be helpful for all ailments. One of the benefits highlighted by Western Reiki, is that we relax during a treatment and this is the best state in which the body starts to heal itself.
Japanese Reiki as it was original taught takes a different approach… Using responses from your body, we look for areas that need treating - nothing beats working on problem area directly. Because Reiki is subtle and certainly not a miracle cure! This means we treat the source of a problem. The amount of time and treatments needed to help an ailment can vary depending on what caused it, and how long it has been there etc. The body heals itself naturally we as Reiki practitioners assist in that process.
Often the problem is our body has, in one way or another, gone out of balance. We are an amazing life form with many systems, working together to allow us to live and do what we want and need to, through a combination of physical, chemical and energetic components. We may initially think of cigarettes or junk food, maybe alcohol. But there are also the chemicals that are added to our cleaning products, toothpaste & deodorants, not to mention the tablets we take prescribed by doctors. The body has to deal with ridding the body of toxins, but with so many influences and if we don’t exercise(correctly), then these can build up in certain areas and restrict the natural fluids and energies of the body. It is these toxins that we are trying to assist the body in ridding itself of.
“We all need a little stress in our lives" my doctor told me - maybe, but stress is a big factor - In 2014/15 stress accounted for 35% of all work related ill health cases and 43% of all working days lost due to ill health (HSE statistics 2014/15). Calming the mind contributes to a healthy body. Reiki gives us a methodology to practice for ourselves to calm and relieve symptoms of stress and physical pain alike. Reiki has a separate mental emotional treatment, this is only practiced by Jikiden Reiki students, and is an effective way to get to the cause of issues by treating the source.
Who hasn’t had an accident from bumping your self to more serious issues. What do you do if you bang your leg – rub it? But why? What if when you place your hand on your knee or on your head for a headache or migraine, it helped to relieve symptoms? What about the cut on your finger from a sharp kitchen knife? Mrs S cut her hand badly – I told her not to panic and use Reiki, the pain was eased and the bleeding stopped quickly. What if you could learn to do that for yourself?
